Why I Do What I Do - Creating Safer Space

I have been sitting with my heart around why I do what I do and felt the pain of all the years the trauma I’ve experienced in various ways and all the years so many of my clients and students have gone through and noticed the tenderness there.  And the importance of caring about this suffering. I remembered my activism and advocacy around wanting to be able to help contribute to the alleviation of suffering in the world in SOME way.

On Valentines day I was invited to go see a performance at a school. I showed up and realized it wasn’t just a bunch of little kids performing something cute… It was young women performing poetry and monologues bringing awareness to violence to women around the world. While it was a bit of a recalibration to realize the topic was so deep and painful, it was inspiring and eye opening.

I share in this video about my own experience as a Women’s Studies major almost 20 years ago and how that revolution has continued to live in me and how my hope in the world is to help create more safety in the world for people of all genders through the various things I offer.

I specifically speak about Creating Safer Space as it’s the most easily accessible way to learn about trauma and creating safer space for people. I am so happy to have finally been able to put this out there and this is a big part of the reason why…
