REMEMBERING WHO YOU ARE

A series of three nourishing half day online retreats, each in three parts:

Belonging. Becoming. Being.

mind

body

heart

soul

spirit

I’m not here to teach you tips or tricks or any kind of quick fix.

I’m here to invite you into a nourishing, whole-hearted gathering of people who feel a yearning to know themselves better, to remember who they are, and to access a kind of inner knowing that will fuel you in more profound and lasting ways than a cup of coffee (though there is always space for coffee, too).

This is not a formal, serious retreat experience.

Meet yourself-

mind, body, heart, soul and spirit-

with presence and grace:
the foundations of a joyful life that is uniquely yours

The world we live in tells us to look outside ourselves for answers. And so we search, and search… we turn every stone, try every modality, looking for the support we crave.

And while external support is necessary and valuable, it’s not found in promises of quick fixes, or generic ten step processes, or in modalities that pathologize, see our suffering as something broken, something that needs to be fixed.

The most nourishing and effective kind of support I’ve found is in relationship - the kind of relationship where there is nothing wrong, nothing to fix, nothing to figure out - instead, there is curiosity. There is kindness. There is compassion. There is presence.

And - when we are able to meet ourselves and each other, in relationship, in this way -

we find grace.

We find a deep, gentle permission to be our messy, imperfect selves. To not have to strive, endlessly attempting to measure up to - what? An impossible ideal that keeps changing so that we will never be at peace? No more of that. Instead, here is an invitation into wholeness through acceptance, and through layers and layers of support that we can begin to trust to hold us, so we don’t have to work so hard to hold ourselves together.

My intention is that this workshop series be a beacon of relief in a busy world - that it will help you meet yourself, help you remember who you are, and help you build a steady foundation for thriving - whatever that looks like for you.
A soft exhale. Can you feel it?

We begin with grounding into Mind and Body: the vessel which holds our heart, soul, and lived experience of spirit. It’s tempting, sometimes, to jump straight to spirit - bodies can be challenging and tender places that hold our traumas and our pain, but we need to tend to them so we have that stable foundation and avoid falling into spiritual bypassing.

So here we are. In our bodies. In our minds. With presence, and with grace.

Belonging:

to ourselves, to each other, to the community.

So many of us long for belonging, but we haven’t a map to find our way there. This is a first step along that pathway, wherever you’re beginning from. When we experience significant stressful experiences or trauma in our life - it can create broken connections. We feel severed from all of the goodness and nourishment here in the present moment - whether it’s internal or external. When we grow a somatic sense of safety and expand our capacity for the ups and downs of life through nervous system regulation - we begin to repair those connections and are able to truly settle into the moment with a sense of rest and ease… belonging at home in the moment.

Becoming:

who we really are.

As we build that sense of safety in our bodies, hearts and minds we can remember who we truly are and what we’re here for. There’s spaciousness and permission in uncovering our genuine-ness and authenticity and bringing forward our heart’s desires. As we are supported to Become… we can tap into our power and fiercely begin to claim what is most true and important for each of us.

Being:

As we embody a sense of belonging and becoming… we can rest into a state of being. We can sit in a place of “here i am”... unapologetically. Able to accept and turn towards the ups and downs of life and our humanity with a sense of care - befriending all that’s here. We expand into a state where there’s a sense of grace - granting ourselves grace to be all that we are and experience all that we do. And also lean into a greater sense of support… feeling held and at home in ourselves, with each other, in the world and beyond.

This experience isn’t about learning tools or tips or tricks.

It’s not about being super formal and serious. It’s about being real.

It’s about gathering for an experience that’s restful and connected, and more like a retreat than a class. A place to come and settle in, as you weave in and out of embodied practices - learning something that you can take with you for the rest of your life.

It’s a little like a day at the Soulful retreat I held in Panama earlier this year, brought into your home.

It’s a little like remembering who you really are.

You might find that this experience and the practices I’ll share help you to remember. You might find they help you feel more at home in your body and your mind. You might find they help your nervous system feel more nourished and more regulated.

It might even help you find a different source of fuel than the caffeine and adrenaline that so many of us are running on, as together we begin to remember how to be fuelled by other kinds of nourishment.

It all comes back to presence.

Presence is the antidote to so much of our struggle. Presence invites us to turn away from the siren call that something in us is broken and must be fixed, and to turn instead towards ourselves. We sit and stay with ourselves, with kindness and with grace (which is itself a practice - we never have to be perfect at presence), and as we soften and expand into imperfect presence, we build a new relationship with ourselves. A sense of steadiness that we will be there, even when we don’t want to, even when it’s brutal, even when it’s ecstatic, even when it’s mundane.

How do we fight for this ultimate thing of remembering who we really are and living that out?

It might seem counterintuitive, but we do it lightly. Welcoming everything, we do it with humor. With tears. With rage. And always, always, with love.

And in this first workshop, we do it through wrapping our minds and bodies in layers of support, through belonging, through becoming, into being.

We'll learn about why it can be so challenging for so many of us to rest in a state of presence.  It's often not as easy as it sounds... and for a very good reason. I'll help you make it a bit easier.  And then you can take what you learn and practice with you and make it your own for years to come.

During our four hours together, we’ll flow through practices, time for listening, and time for breaks to tend to our bodies.

Don’t have time?

When you don’t have time - it might feel counterintuitive, but that’s the perfect time to pause, and fill your cup. If you think about how it feels when you don’t have time for anything, there’s a particular kind of energy to it. A sort of forward agitation, the need to keep hustling to stay even half a step ahead. The problem is that the hamster wheel never stops, unless you step off.

Even for a little while.

And take a breath. Soften. Give yourself the gift of presence and a moment of grace.

I can offer you a moment, a gentle and kind place to rest, but it’s up to you to step off the wheel and take it.

EVERY SINGLE PART OF YOU IS WELCOME, EXACTLY AS YOU ARE RIGHT NOW.

I mentioned above that this experience will feel a little like the retreat I led in Panama earlier this year, but in your own home. Here’s what someone had to say about that experience:

Client Stories

“I feel noticeably more connected to the different parts of myself; more grounded, nourished, and integrated; and emboldened to dream big for myself and the world. I learned (or maybe, was reminded) that healing is possible, wounds do not require attention permanently once treated, and the water carried by marred buckets is no less valuable for the scars.”

This is part of what I want for all humans everywhere.

Who am I?

hi

I’M SHELBY LEIGH, MA, LPC

Shelby Leigh is a highly sought-after trauma therapist, twice-certified coach, consultant, and Licensed Professional Counselor. Her methodology is a seamless weave of nervous system regulation and co-regulation support, somatic practices, attachment theory, and trauma-informed mindfulness.

When away from work, you’ll find her driving down a dirt road, taking in gorgeous views, road-tripping, wandering in the woods, rafting a river, midnight canoe stargazing, flying somewhere tropical, typing half-written memoirs, taking long naps, chasing sunsets and asking herself frequently “what is the MOST loving thing I can do in this moment?”
