Jen Atkisso: Tending to Healthcare's Nervous System

Ep.10: Tending to Healthcare's Nervous System with Jen Atkisson

Perinatal Nurse and Educator Jen Atkisson vulnerably shares her personal story that led to getting fired up about trauma informed care for nurses, doctors and their patients. Shelby and Jen explore:

  • Slowing down

  • How trauma informed care doesn't mean having to be a therapist

  • Simple things to implement to support patients AND medical staff

  • Having deep compassion for the lives of those working in healthcare

A bit more about Jen:

Jen Atkisson is a certified perinatal nurse and educator, with a Master's of Science in Clinical Nurse Leadership from the University of Portland. She has practiced in hospitals, birth centers and public health clinics for the past 15 years, supporting thousands of patients as they move through the birth process.
