I’m on the Empath to Power podcast!

I’m so happy to share this latest podcast episode on Empath to Power with Lola Pickett--I got to come on as a guest and we had such a beautiful conversation together that burst my heart wide open, all about what it takes to truly help facilitate healing, how the promise of safe spaces actually let those of us with trauma down, and how we can work towards a more supportive, safer space instead.

Here are some of the things we cover:

  • How the HSP test changed how Shelby shows up to be present

  • Is safety a real thing?

  • How can a person can disconnect from the facilitator when reminded of a safe space

  • What is perceived safety?

  • Ways on how to create a safer or safe enough space for our clients

  • Why setting boundaries can be hard for coaches who have patterns of people pleasing

  • As facilitators, we need to keep ourselves in check for our trauma responses

  • Why do we get stuck with the behavior at the age when our trauma happened

  • What is the correlation of strong boundaries and trust with clients and coaches

  • Lola’s mantra: I see you in your strength

  • What happens when we are not able to separate ourselves from our client’s experiences

  • Why we don’t need our client’s approval if we are full of ourselves

  • How Shelby ended up in Bali after she lost her father

  • The reason why Shelby felt safer into moving something unfamiliar

  • What Shelby has to offer to coaches who are interested with creating a safe space

We also dove into some of my own personal life story and big transitions, and get into what coaches and healers of all sorts need in order to provide their clients with as much support, clarity, and groundedness as they need.
